With WL-3 to Egypt

3 Jun 2008

We have succeeded in receiving some snaps from a journey of VL-3 Sprint OK-MUU 45 operated by Luxemburgish owners,  to Egypt. The flight was organized by Aérorallyes Association (www.aerorallyes.net ). Aside of three ultralights (CTSW, Zodiac 601 and  VL-3), 11 sport planes participated in the rally (Cesna 421, BE55, Lancair Legacy 2000, Mooney 20, Piper 39, two Pipers 28, DR400-180, twoTBs10 and Cessna 172). An absolute reliability of VL-3  in hot weather  and the lowest fuel consumption from the parfticipating planes were the most pleasing facts. According to GPS, Sprint made 10.044 km during 52 hours (Hobbs gave 58,2 hours) which gives 13,2 l per hour (11,8 l/h according to Hobbs). From another point of view the plane needed on average 6,84 l to cover 100 km and its average speed was 193 km/h. A map and a few ilustrative pictures are enclosed.
